The Rending of Reverteur-A Warhammer 40k campaign

The planet of Reverteur has always known war.  Located on the outer edges of the Helican Sub-sector in the Scarus sector of Segmentum Obscurous, Reverteur was only in the last one hundred years changed in classification from a feudal world to a civilized world.  Throughout that time clans have fought clans, cities have fought cities and entire continents have been engulfed in war.  Technology has advanced at a steady pace driven by war and supplemented by visitors from the stars.

Technology is not the only constant. Religion too has influenced Reverteur’s development.  Tribal bands who worshipped the elements shared the world with cults who followed a darker path.  Like the adherents who lived them, these religions clashed.   Gods were stamped out and others adapted by the many wars’ different victors.  Faith too was supplemented by celestial visitors.

The Age of the Imperium changed Reverteur, but only recently and only partially.  Due to Reverteur’s isolation the Imperium of Man came to the planet later than most others in Segmentum Obscurus.   It did come and with violence.   Pacification of Reverteur was achieved only after several failed attempts, and some say it never came at all.  The Imperial Guard of man came to eventually mostly occupy the planet. This has not happened on friendly terms and the several thousand guardsmen barracked on the world are still seen as occupiers; although this is slowly changing as more locals are being recruited into its ranks. A world Governor has also been installed and has gained a certain degree of respect due to ruling with a stern but respectful attitude towards the planet’s population.

Religion remains as well.  The God Emperor is acknowledged but not loved    Older, darker powers still bubble under the surface.  Cults continue to worship; older benevolent spirits have been supplanted by more universal, more real gods.   Though individual clusters of dangerous followers of the dark gods are sometimes noticed and crushed by the much too small inquisitorial defenders of the Imperium, it hasn’t been enough.  The remaining followers have communicated and they have begun to work at the singular purpose of bringing their patrons to Reverteur.   They only needed a will strong enough to unite them, in the high priest of one of these cults they found one….

 The Campaign

A flow chart campaign will drive the events on the planet of Reverteur.  A bundle of 40k, a smattering of Battlefleet Gothic and pile of unpainted hastily assembled forces will constitute the formula of the campaign that will be described in the following posts.
The madness that is impulsive campaign creation
